About the Math at Marshall
Mathematics offerings at Marshall University include programs of study leading to Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees. Mathematics degree programs prepare students for careers in the mathematical sciences and related disciplines.
Graduates of our mathematics programs have had successful careers in government and industry. Our graduates have also earned advanced degrees in mathematics, engineering, and economics. Mathematics has a dynamic and engaged faculty who focus both on excellent teaching and on many areas of mathematical research. Marshall mathematics faculty have been recognized with numerous awards for their teaching, research, and service.
We also host the nation’s only publicly accessible Differential Analyzer Laboratory.

Undergraduate Degree Programs
Mathematics offers three undergraduate majors leading to a Bachelor of Science degree; Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, and Statistics. In addition we offer an undergraduate Area of Emphasis in Statistics and an undergraduate Minor in Mathematics.

Graduate Degree Programs
Mathematics offers a Master of Arts in Mathematics degree. This two-year degree program is designed to prepare students for professions in industry, government agencies, and business; or further graduate study at the doctoral level and teaching positions at the secondary or two year college level. We also offer a graduate Area of Emphasis in Statistics and a graduate Minor in Mathematics.
